MHC launch a respite care service at Highfield Park

                                           MHC strives progressively to develop services and as a response to the demand from referrers, purchasers and local services has developed a respite care service at Highfield Park, Llandyrnog.

2 Pine Cottages is a two-bedded terraced cottage which provides respite care for adults with a learning disability to enable their families to have a break from the stresses of their usual routines, in order to improve the quality of their lives and support their relationship.

Respite care is an essential part of the overall support families may need to keep their family member with a learning disability at home, where feasible.

The aim of 2 Pine Cottages is to provide seamless continuity of care and to:

• Give respite to service users, their carers and families
• Enable service users to have control
• Offer good experiences and personal advantages
• Promote individual support as a result of individual planning
• Sustain feelings of personal worth and esteem
• Emphasise the importance of building new relationships which extend beyond their immediate family

Respite care is on a short term basis only.
